Section 8 Companies (non-profit organisation) generally refer to those Companies incorporated under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013; incorporated with objectives of Charitable purposes. The primary objects of these Companies are to promote commerce, art, science, sports, education, research, social welfare, religion, charity, protection of environment or any such other objects. These Companies intends to apply its profits, if any, or other income in promoting its objects and further it prohibits the payment of any dividend to its members.
If all these basic criteria fulfilled then the Central Government may issues licence in such manner as may be prescribed, and on such conditions as it deems fit, allow that person or association of persons to be registered as a limited company under this section without addition of the word "Limited" or "Private Limited" to its name.
